View Full Version : Am I correct to assume this is a female?

Hello everyone,

I've had this Long Fin BN Pleco since she/he was barely over an inch. For some reason I have always assumed he was a male, but now that "he" has grown to almost 4 inches (Nose to tip of tail) and after seeing some that were definitely males, I'm beginning to think Freckles is actually a female. Here she (?) is:

OH... Hmmm, here I was busy looking for a male when what I really needed was a female. Great!

Yep I'd agree with your fish being a he. None of my females has even have a hint of a whisker allthough there are people who report having females with bristles I've never seen any.

some females do have some tiny bristles, but never seen any with the branches on the bristles (only males seem to have the branches)

Some of my females look like that .... Males have larger more elaborate bristles

i have a female that just layd eggs that has wiskers like that. the male is with the fry now still and theres only 2 of them in there
