I just had a spawn from either the L066 or L129, unfortunately the dad kicked the eggs out of the cave, first go around for him. I am unsure which group spawned, as they are both in the same tank. I netted the eggs, around 30 and placed them in a floating livebearer trap. I wish I had an egg tumbler/fry saver. Any suggestions?

Add an air stone and every thing should go well, that's what i do when my L100 kick out the eggs and the fry hatch just fine. HTH

Yeah that is what I used for my fronts once but then I made my own tumblers using some stuff I had laying around there are a ton of plans around for them and it is not that much to make them the air stone works in a pinch though for sure

30 eggs I would be guessing that it is the L-066. How big are the eggs?

They are surprisingly big. I suspect that they are L066 too, as I have 4 L066 males and 1 L129 male. 80% chance of being L066.

I am positive that the spawn is from your L-129's unless your L-066 are stunted runts. My 066 usually lay about 80 very large eggs.
The best tumbler for pleco eggs is made by cutting the bottom off a large plastic pop bottle and then silicone a plastic mesh disc of about 2" diameter in the neck of the bottle. Remove the cap and drill a hole the size of an air stone stem in the center of the cap. Push an air stone into the inside of the cap and srew it back on. Add a clip or some devise to hang it on your tank. The air is adjusted to bubble slowly and an occasional burts of built up air will toss the eggs gently. This works better than the cichlid egg tumblers.

Will the various species on Hypansistrus interbreed as this may be an issue as well would it not ?

Charlie, thank you for the design on the egg tumbler, sounds easy to make.
