To start he explaination my cousin works for a large moving company and there was a move awhle back where the center slate of a pool table was dropped and the corner broke (not by him). So any way once the insured moe was settled and the slate replaced the company was going to just bin it, he being the nice cousin and smart guy he is told his boss he would take it and save the weight in the bin.

It has sat in my garage for a couple eeks as I haven't had time to eal with t yet but am hopng to clean (felt glue etc) it off and either cut or bust it into useable tank pieces for both him and I.

Here is a couple shots of the piece 3'X4'x1"thick. I tossed an 8.5x11 paper on for scale as well.

Just need to finish sanding and such then figure out next step.

Slate that thick is not much good for making caves or spawning sites. Best broken with a sledge hammer to use to form ledges. The 3/8" thick 12"x12" slate tiles at Home Depot for $2.49 are a lot easier to manage and can be cut on a tile cutting saw or with a side grinder. However at the price they want per pound for tile I cannot blame you for salvaging it. You could even get rid of some surplus in one of the up coming spring auctions.

Thats pretty much what I was thinking in the over all, Maybe a few "cut" pieces for ledges in a terrace, but mainly as broken for aquascape etc.
