Well I was doing a water change on my bow tank in my bedroom, and once again I forgot about it while it was filling up. Mel then goes sometimes running... OH SHIT I forgot the tanks filling up, Crap! few gallons on the floor yet again. At least it was easier to clean now that I don't have any carpet in that room.
Who else has flooded their tank before?

We did it at about the same time.
Last night I came home and in the room by brother hit the dehumidifier when he opend the door in the morning and he did not even take a look at it. The bucket was off center in the machine so the compressor was still working but the drip was going into the back of the machine. So on the floor was about 50 pints ( is that what they call it? ) of water that smells like feet drity stinky feet. I had to clean that up.
Then today in the morning I put some new floss in one of my AC 70's and forgot to way it down. The floss blocked the mouth of the filter and about 5 gals from the tank dripped out of the back of the filter. I had to clean that up and it was all over. I was going crazy. I had a few books under the shelf and papers so they were all trash. It was not a good day for me and water at all.
Oh the bonus was I stayed home from work LOL

I'm glad it's not just me. I thought it was an "age" thing but apparently not...whew!
I have a rule now that when I do water changes I stay in the room and with bring my laptop or a book or tidy the room but I must stay there. I don't know how many times I've said to myself, "I'll just run out and do this one little thing and come back" only to remember too late. My fish room is on the top floor so I've had water dripping through the light fixtures down stairs!:o

I once flooded it so badly I had the army's housing authority plumber come because I knew I'd get killed otherwise. Those darn old pipes!
No one tell on me!

I used to have spills and overflow weekly. But not lately because my daughter took an interest in help me out with water change. (well all she does is let me know when the bucket and tank is about over flow). Funny how a simple thing like that can save me 1/2 hour of mopping every time I do a water change.

Knock on wood .......it has not happened to me with FW yet ...
but try 10 gl of saltwater on hardwood floors .....
has happened to me too many times with sump and skimmer pumps ..
then wash the floor many times to get the salt up then murphys oil and pray theres no dammage !
From then on i mix in buckets then jug it in more work but safer that way!
I dont want to have to pay for hardwood flooring!

Get a hold of www.mops.ca and buy a Screamer made by Coral Life. It operates on a 9 volt battery. I use one all the time on my RO barrel or when filling a large tank and doing other things at the same time. You can hear it anywhere in the house. If I don't the second screamer alerts me. [Janet]
