Hi my name is Gerard, for many years I own Plecos, and I still have few, but since I need fish for my dense planted tank, this time I’m breeding Sturisoma ( not sure of the specie) , easy to breed, the problem is to rise the fry, I’m now to my third generation, so I guess I save few fry. At least the male and female are easy to recognize. Is this a Pleco, it’s the same family, the Loricariidae, but for me it’s not a real pleco. I try also to breed Farlowella, all true I have eggs, I was not able to rise the fry until now. I’m now in my last step to finish my fishroom ( actually a separate building) , the water is in, I need to install a water tank for hot water, after I will build the rack and use some tanks to collect more rare pleco. That’s it for now.

Welcome aboard. Try a bare tank and a gentle current with your Surisoma species. Most prefer live brine shrimp as a first food. I raise the Lip Brooding Loricaria simillima.

Many thanks for thinking of us. The people on this forum are very knowlegeable and very helpful. In fact I have had no hesitation referring others. We have been inactive of late due to the demands on our time, but we should check in regularly, and will try to keep abreast.Good people aren't always easy to find, and there are good people on this forum.
It's really nice to be missed.
Thanks again
