L-204 the Flash Pleco is a fish that eats a bit of everything. Mine eat the Zucchini, raw white potato as well as flake, shrimp and blood worms. They are also wood eaters and must have wood to chew on. Not that hard Asian wood sold in pet shops but good old punky water logged wood from clean beaver swamps and trout streams. Their favorite wafer is what else but Sera Catfish Chips. They contain willow and alder wood. The only place that has them is MOPS thats Mail Order Pet Supply www.mops.on.ca Some other stores have some Sera products but not this one.
At present I have 6 Flash Plecos with males as big as 6" but inspite of water and temperature changes and current no luck yet. But the males are sparing if that is a good sign.

Ah Charlie, I meant to ask you, what size tank are you keeping them in? I've got 3 around 6" 2 female, 1 male, they are only in a 20 gallon tank now, I know its WAY to small, but it's going to be their home until I move in 2 months when they get upgraded to a 36" x 18" or a 72" x 18" tank. Would like to get more of them though.
It's six months later and I'm wondering if you had any luck breeding your L204's. They really can look quite striking. On a feeding note, did you boil the willow before putting it into the tank and did you leave the bark on or strip it?

Thanks for the advice with those Sera Catfish chips. Just bought some and my L034's love them. They ignore most everything else I throw in there.

Assuming that you are asking about a real willow bark. All wood added to you aquarium must be striped of the bark. Otherwise, your tank will stink like hell as the bark decomposes.
Kind of figured as much but you never know, some plecs might be like beavers and enjoy the bark.
