View Full Version : Can a new home stop the spawning?

I ask cuz my male calico seems to have given up with girls. His original setup where I got 3 spawns with him and mom silvertip was a 33 gallon, bare bottom, AC70 filtration, some driftwood and his clay pot. Then I moved him into a 65 gallon with gravel, driftwood with some anubias attached, his clay pot and a few other pots PLUS 3 lovely longfin female albino BN. No spawns, nothing!!!! So I just put mom silvertip back in with him hoping that might help but still a no go! I wonder if putting him back in the old setup would help or clear out the gravel in the new bigger tank? I'm still doing exactly the same with everything else, w/c the same, feeding the same, no water problems.

Anyone experience something like this?

Thanks.

How long has he been in the new set up? Maybe he needs a little more time getting used to the new surroundings.

Mine took a few month break when I moved them around, now they are right back at it as usual.
