Just wondering if anyone has taken apart totally a tank and how hard is it. I am seriously considering taking apart 3 x 90 gallon tanks and making them into 1 big 12' tank in my office. Filling it with discus, plecos and cardinals.
The 90's each have a hole drilled int eh back for overflow, which would be perfect.
Anyhow, would love to hear your thoughts.

If and when you do that you better be having an open house!

Do they have a black brace on the top and bottom?

nope, i will have to make a brace at the top though. they are just 5 1/2" pieces of glass and some cheap corner stuff around them made of plastic.

I would be worried about joining the bases together, what with the pressure that would be pressing against joined galss.

Huh? How are you going to get a 12' long glass at the bottom?
You can't bridge a couple of panel of glass on the bottom. There's no way it can support the weight of the water.

Ya, I have emailed 3 places today about building a custom tank. Only place that can do a 12' is Miracles, and waiting on a price from them. Have got a 10' quote and an 11' quote, suprisingly not as mush as I thought they would be.
So it looks like I may be keeping the 3 x 90's for the fishroom now.

Another thing that bug me too. The glass will probably be pretty thick. But what about the weight? Are you sure you can move that tank? I you might need a tractor or crane or pully system to move it. And can your floor support the weight?

Ya, I have got it going on a concrete floor in the basement, tank dimensions are
120x24x21
The front sides and back 12mm regular glass the bottom 19mm regular glass.
Tank is only 260 odd gallons so not that huge. Figure it would weigh around 400lbs, and I do have a walkout basement so 4-6 guys and no problem.
