to try and get my more difficult guys n' gals to spawn. I've gradually been dropping the water line in the tanks... increasing temps and always feed conditioning food. I tend to up the bloodworms and mysis on a day like today. I'm attempting to get my L260's, L168's, L066's and LDA31's to spawn. All of the bushynoses pretty much do it on their own.
I'm going to do a cool water change and fill the tanks right up. Everyone's got their selection of caves in each tank. I've added powerheads for those who like the increase in current.
If there is anything you would like to add that I may be forgetting... i'd be greateful!!! Wish me luck!!

I was just wondering how did that go?
The problem with waiting for the weather to change is that you can't really shift from dry to wet fast enough. For me anyway. I find it a bit easier if you time it after the season as that allows you several weeks to prepare for them.
Sometimes, they spawn on the reverse, by that I mean, they spawn when you just started the dry season. I don't know about you other guys, but it's not always consistent. That's why I don't want to say too much about breeding plecos. It's not aways a hit all the time and there are just too many factors that make you doubt if you're doing it right. But over all, my advice is that if you just keep doing the dry and wet season. You'll stumble in to your own working formula and spawn eventually. But man, it breaks my back to do all that water changes constantly.
Hopefully, going from May to June, I can do another rotate to see if that can trigger the other pair to spawn as well.

Everyone accept for the exotic's spawn...LOL isn't that the way!!! I'm going to be looking for an RO unit this pay and see if that helps. Any suggestions as to the ratio of tap to RO water mixture during water change??

I never have to resort to RO water. Unless if I was trying to spawn the lower pH fish like the white seam spoted BN pleco.
But just out of curiosity, why do you have to work with RO water? I though for most pleco, it was the aerasion and current that was more important?

I am trying RO on my L240's as my water is so freakin hard (its off the scale) and quite high ph also. So there's reasons for RO :)

I've been reading a lot of studies that were most successful after resorting to RO water. My ph also ranges from 7.2-7.4 I believe these guys prefer a little lower

I've been picking up R/o water from a local water depot and experimenting Kristy. So far stingy creeps are not breeding!
