Here are some of the photo's the Royal I picked up. Boy was he cranky at the auction. Within one minute of being handed the bag of fish he bit through both bags that he was in. John was really nice and gave me two new bags and rebagged him for me as I was panicking. Before John was able to knot up the new bags he bit through those as well, think guyser water was shooting all over the place.

Kai was kind enough to give me one of his buckets thankfully. He proceeded to give me a bath in his lovely bucket water when we got home and I tried to move him. The strength of this fish's mouth is unreal, it took me 10 minutes to get him to let go of the bucket!

They are not the best photo's as he was sitting in a bucket/bag for 15 hours but he's really a beautiful fish. I'd like to find a female closer to his size in the near future. He is in a 55 gallon qt and will then go into a 90 or a 150. :) He has already managed in less then 24 hours to chew the living daylights of the wood I have in there. Apparently they prefer malaysian wood.

cute, how big is he? He looks just like a couple i've got here, but mine are just 3" :(

He's about 5.5 inches. :D And chowing down on some zuchinni at the moment. Have you mastered sexing them? I've heard it can be a pain, I have a few of them and am lousy at it.

No idea, might be able to at that size however.

I can't really tell from that shot you have of it. I do know however that the 'whiskers' comming out of the gills are a good indication of sex (the length of them that is), although I am hazarding a guess that this guy is in fact a gal.

The fish is not large enough to sex you can take a guess but thats all it will be. I think around the 7-8'' mark is when you can tell for sure what sex they are. There is a guy on PF that knows how to sex them really well I think his name is Windy. I would aslo ask Xingu as well.

Thanks I read where they cannot be sexed until they are about 8-10 inches.
