I got my first BN last fall. A pet store employee (surprise, surprise) suggested it after I said I needed a small algae eater.

I ended up with what I found to be a Rio Ucayali, about 1 1/2". He's now about 5 inches and I just love him!

My other is an Albino sp. 3.

I continue to be amazed at their algae eating. I have not had to scrape algae once since I got these guys. The albino especially even cleans every single plant, without doing any damage at all!

They both live in this 20 gal tank, with neons and cherry barbs, which I think is a good habitat for them.:)

BN are my favs. That's how I got into breeding the different types. I've been looking for the starlights everywhere. Lucky catch there. They are very nice!! Nice tank too!!

If you're looking for a Starlight pleco (which mine isn't), check out this link that I got on this board.

I know it's a long way from you, but worth a look!:)

It's funny though, there's always traces of white along the dorsal and anal fins. But I don't see any on this one. How big is this guy?
It's an L183 if you are curious. Actually, Charlie breeds them. He does post here once in a while too.
I wonder how is his breeding on L182 going. I bombed out on mine. I bought 5 adults and they all died on me within the week. It'll be a while before I'll try again.

Is that question for me, zebrapl3co?

Mine is Rio Ucayali, and his fins are tipped with orange. He's about 5" long.

I haven't been able to find any others around here anywhere.

Here's a page from Planet Catfish.
