Just wondering if anyone is planning on heading down for the catfish convention this year. I very seriously considering it, just have to get off my butt and see if I the hotel will allow dogs :)
Anyhow heres the site for the show: www.catfish2008.com (http://www.catfish2008.com)

Anyone going to the Catfish Convention should book a room now. There are no other hotels or even motels anywhere close by. The first convention in 2004 had 100 people. In 2006 there were 200 people and it is predicted to be 300 to 400 this year. Lots of room sellers and dealers. A special shipment of catfish usually comes in from Peru for the auction.

Well it looks as I am going to go for sure, just wondering if anyone wants to split on a room with me. I will be driving down on Thursday the 16th and returning back to Toronto area on Sunday after the auction (will be a late late night I think).
Friday I am going to be doing the trip to some of the local stores, one of them being Hans-Discus place.
Hope to bring home a bunch of new plecos and some discus as well.
Please let me know asap. I have not yet booked a room but will be this week.

Still working on going, all depends on the work visa going through. If I'm finally able to teach this year I probally won't be able to make it. If I do I'm lucky enough to have family who insist I stay with them about 45 minutes away from Laurel. :)

So is anyone else going to be going? I am heading down with Kyle. Just wondering how many more people from the Toronto area will be down there for the fun.

Was awesome. Met and drank lots of beer with Julian (Jools) the admin at planetcatfish, Hans Evers and Ingo. Learn't a ton of stuff from these great guys as well as everyone else there, Barbie, Dale, and many more.
I picked up a group of 4 L330's about 6 inches in size. Ingo sexed them for me, 2 of each :) Interstingly Hans also sexed them using a different method and said the same thing, 2 of each sex. I now should also have a breeding group of L134's. and I got 7 of the 12 I think true L183's. They are just little so I will be growing them out for a while yet.
Some other pickups included
- 10 discus from Hans-Discus WOW his place was impressive!
- 12 Albino Neons, these were really cool looking and quite rare.
- 6 Laser Orange Cory's to add to my group
- 2 Long Fin Calico BN, fry
- 20 Yellow shrimp
Kyle brought home some stuff also, some new L134 to increase his group size, and a group of L333 which were good size of F1's
All in all I thought that there was going to me more plecos for sale in the rooms. There was still plenty and if I could have would have spent a ton more money and brought home bags more of hypans. I would go again in seconds, LONG drive, and I think every 2 years is the perfect timing.

Rich,
The L330's get huge. What size do they need to be to breed?

They are about 6-7" now and Ingo said another 10cm so whats that another 3 inches or so. He said I should be able to get them to that size in 2 years time. They are going into my 10 foot tank :)
