And heres the pics.

The big ones are already sold, off to Asia they go. Apparently he has a number of smaller ones though.

OH MY GOD. Now how did I miss this one! I was going through the list before.
oh man oh man oh man. Sh!t, I wanted it.
And looking at the pictures. This is "THE" one and only elusive true blue eye pleco too.
Not the more common Panaque cochliodon (another blue eye pleco) that we often see pictures of on the net.

Edit: whoah, whew, OK, I am finally a bit more calm now. OK, my bad. I wasn't reading all the words that you posted.
No, this one would be a Panaque cochliodon. Mainly because it's exported from Colombia. All blue eye from Colombia are Panaque cochliodon. If it was a Panaque suttoni/suttonorum, it would have come from Venezuela.

So are you planning to buy any?

I am tempted, but I don't have the tank. So I for me it's a wishful thing.

hahah just a bit excited there eh :)

I was too when I saw it, it seems like they are showing up a lot the past month, well maybe not a lot, but more then I have seen in the past many years. I am honestly thinking that the area where they are collected from is not drug controlled anymore so we'll see a lot more of them and hopefully the prices will come down. I would LOVE to get one or many but cannot justify it at the moment, especially when I am moving in 6 weeks or so. Would be cool to setup a monster panaque tank tho :) and try to get them breeding. I for some reason don't think its that difficult, more of a scale issue, many smaller panaques are being breed at home now. Imagine breeding Blue Eyes... :D

Hey guys. I had the expert at Planet catfish check out the pics. It does look like they are Panaque cochliodon. Which is still a fair price at $2000 each. I know that some one tried to sell one about 1 year back for $5000. But common market price is still $2000.
*sigh* bye bye blue eye. I'll be saving from this day on. But one day ... one day.

I thought Blue Eyed PLeco was extinct in the wild.

Not really, from what I hear, those part of the river are frequent by guerilla for the past 30 years or so. You have to be insane to go fish there.

I just saw one on aquabid for US$3850.00, says it is 30cm. The guy is in Germany and is well known on there for having very overpriced plecos.

I heard that they will be coming in large number soon. Even when I talk to guy's in the UK they say the price on them has dropped a bunch and will keep going down because they are now available from the wild and not other hobbiests tanks.
