While I was on my run abouts to the big city (Toronto) yesterday I happened to swing by Aquarium Depot out by the airport. So happens they are moving locations and selling all of their tanks! YA YA
They have a ton of tanks that are 24x18 x 16 high. SWEET, I tried to take 6, but could not fit that many in my truck, it so happend that I also had a brand new 61" tv in their also, so space was lacking.
Anyway, got home late at night so didnt bother taking the tanks out, just left them in the back, the gravel was frozen SOLID this morning when I went to bring them. So once they thawed the cleaning began. Wow, what a process that is. I have never cleaned a tank to this extent. I know i could have just used the tanks as they were, but I can be fussy. And I wanted them all looking pretty. So, I have been busy scraping off all the blue paint and silicone so I can repaint and re silicone them tomorrow LOL. There was so much and slopy silicone all over them, so now they will be black in the seams and still unsure of what color to paint them, but I am leaning towards blue again.
Will try to get some progress shots, or well a before and after shot at least.
Apologies for the stupid question but where is Aquarium depot? Never heard of it before.

Okay I have now got 2 of the 4 all re-done :) I am pretty pleased with the way they turned out. I didn't realize how much work it was going to be to scrape off all the old paint, and silicone then re-silicone and paint em. Oh well half done now.
Heres the before and after pics
Looks good. All these new tanks and the old ones as well. Oh, the possibilities! (And oh, the work)

Great job on the tank restoration! It's nice to see your enthusiastic efforts to obtain and breed plecos and showing us the progress along the way.

Loooooooooots of beautiful pleco's my friend... many many wonderful pleco's...lol and if you 're breeding.. I know where i'm getting some from:D It's too bad we don't see more breeders here. I'd love to see more breeders on this site.
I'm working on getting every bushynose type I possibly can . I just love them and love the fact that they don't grow to 14" so that you see every novelist selling them off 2 years after buying them because they weren't informed of their size when they bought them. Mind you, I love way more than just the Ancistrus group.(I need to win the lottery..lol)
So.. what cha going to breed?

Ya, I would love for more breeders to visit the site as well, its a matter of time is all really. Sites really only been around for about a year.
But I am going to really really try hard on my group of L236's! It's been done before, so I'm going to give em a whirl. Other then that, I am growing out some L46's. Have some long fin BN, but everyone seems to have those, so they really aren't high on my list. I'd really like to get my group of L400's going also.
Going to try to pickup a group of L262's shortly and a group of L200's also. I'm going to be building a 1200 gallon tank (prob wont be done for about a year tho) and really want to try some larger species in there.
That's going to be quite the feat... Every BN species! Theres a ton of em. Do you have any of the peperment/whiteseams L183's those or my fav. BN.

I wish. My collection is fairly small so far. They're REALLY hard to get to the island. I've had to ship in from Ont. AB and Van (mainland) to get what I have. So far I have
Long fin albino
short fin albino
golds
calico's
Silvertips
I'd give my right arm to expand on that. If you know of anyone who has anything that I don't, I'd be glad to pay for shipping. I want to bring them to the island. I'd really like to find a male calico as well. I do a lot of swapping when I can. A few friends and I each order a specific kind and then swap when we get fry. Cheaper that way. It really takes a group effort to populate an island ;)

Ya give Spencer an email at http://www.cichlaholic.com/index.html all he does is import and wholesale fish. Most of the stuff he gets in never makes it to the list for regular customers like us, but he will order in special for you if you ask for a decent size group. That is how I got my group of 8 x L239's
