Well i have purchased my first house over the past couple weeks and been dong the whole inspection mortgage crap. So it looks like I will be once again moving.. YIPPIE...

I am very excited, well more then that actually. Its a new house (2 yr old) so i don;t have to worry about fish tanks falling through the floor as I do now, and there is way more space and an unfinished basement! Lucky for me it is only a 10 min drive from my current location and I'll have 10 days overlapping to build a big ole stand in the basement to hold all these tanks I've had just sitting empty here.

So if anyone has some fry I'm looking or some new stuff now that I'll have room. I don't more for another 80 days though :(

Oh ya, also planning on building a HUGE tank in the basement. right now i have it planned for 12' long x 4' deep, unsure of height, kinda depends on the size of glass I can find for a reasonable price.

In this monster I plan to house a group of large L330's (so I will also need more of these when the time comes too, only have 2 large ones now)
. And a big school of Black Bar Silver Dollars and well still unsure of what else.

Have done a lot of planning so far on the tank. It's going to be plumbed right into the water in the house and the drain to the septic also. The sump I am going to build for it is going to be approx 200 gallons also :)

It's gonna be huge, and it's going to take a long time to build. I am not estimating I'll be having any fish in it before new years.

Oh and when is the CP housewarming party to unveil the new fishroom;)

I promise to keep my hands out of the pleco tanks... :D

hehe moving the tanks isnt really all that bad so long as you have a few days. I am already starting to seed some new filters, well new old filters that havent been turned on in months to make things a lot easier.

haha i live quite far away from most of you guys. Up here in Cottage Country, good ole Haliburton County.

Way to go Rich. I see like someone plans to give BA's Mississauga some competition.
I for one think it would be worth packing a lunch and taking a road trip up to see that tank when it's completed.
You should post progress pics not only here but also on "Monsterfishkeepers.com", I'm sure alot of there members would be interested in following a project of that size.
I can only assume that this is the last move your ever going to make, because I don't think you plan to take that 1000+ gallon tank with you.
Now you have me wondering if I really need to put a home theater in my unfinished basement or a "Monster Tank" vueing room.....Hmm.....Decisions....Decisions.

Thanks guys!

hahah thats exactly where I got the idea from is MFK and on cichlid-forums also. When I start I will be taking pics of the entire process. I'm already talking to some of my friends who are builders to see if they have any odd sized glass they are not using or was ordered wrong size and whatnot. I am going to do the whole thing with an epoxy paint, sweetwater, to me it just seems like the easiest thing to use as silicone bonds to it really really well. So just frame up the walls really well, do a little stand (approx 1.5' off ground) then paint and install glass. Sounds simple, but I think its going to be more then that lol. Almost like building 2 tanks because of the massive size sump I will need. I've actually thought of installing a hot tub pump into it too for current for the plecos, just and idea at this point though.

And when it is done I will gladly invite everyone up to check it out!

West G. I am about 5 mins from there now LOL you have prob driven right past my house a few times, I'm right on HWY 118 now. Moving to about a minute north of Minden just off 21

Congrats on the purchase of your new home. Always an exciting time. If you haven't already done so, check out the thread on PlecoFanatics in the DIY section about setting up a big tank. It's by Kostas and is fairly extensive. Your proposed tank will be larger than his but you may get some good ideas, especially about the sump. Watch that you don't overload your weeping bed when you do those massive water changes. Time dosing is the way to go. Have you thought about an acrylic tank?

I have followed both his thread and the other thread by Haavard as well, both have made some beautiful tanks, and I intend on trying to do something like that to either a 90 or 125g shortly. Have the grinder, rocks and bit, just need the time now.

Cannot do acrylic as I will have some rather large L330's and they'd have a field day with with that. Chew marks would be all over it in a matter of a week. I have some pretty good contact in the construction area so am trying to get some old office building windows, will see how that goes.

Yes I am worried a bit about flooding the weeping bed pretty baldy actually. I am thinking a constant drip of about 2 gallons an hour = 336 gallons a week would be the best thing for avoiding that, then no large water changes would really be needed. Still all very much in the planning stages still. I want to do this right :)

Thanks for all the input!
