Well I screwed up big time this past weekend....

Wed night I thew some squash into one of my 125 gallon tanks, it was a big piece, a real big piece. Well I left thursday morning for the weekend off to Ottawa. I forgot to take the squash out, not good. I got home to one nasty tank and a lot of dead fish, including my 12" L47. I was not happy with myself at all! The entire tank managed to grow a nasty slime over everything, so I picked out all the dead fish (3 silver dollars, my big L47, a really big L31 (about 6")), then proceded to drain the tank to about 50% water. took out everything in the tank, and had to wash off all the slime, filled the tank back up, re-decorated it and the fish seem happy again. I did another 25% water change the following day. And I still have to clean out the filters. Gonna do 1 tomorrow and the other in a while.

So today to re-stock the tank I took a trip to the city. 2hr drive for me up in Haliburton area. Lucky to my suprise I found some of the rare Silver Dollars with the Black bar in the middle of them at Big Als on Kennedy. SWEET, I bought 5 of the 6 there, one was not in good shape. They also had some nice big L330 Watermellon Royals, So I talked them down $40 on them to $89 :D So I took the largest one, somewhere around 8-9" he should go nicely with my other Royals.

Then took a visit to see Mike a Finatics, got some ram's for my zebra tank there and some more plants. And of course some bloodworms.

So now I am going to head back up north and put these fish into their new home and get ready to party this weekend.. Yaaaa... Halloween... I shoulda got a pleco costume lol

Awfully sorry to read about your loss. I'm sure that you'll miss the big Mango as well as the others.

We all know better but screw up just the same. When you go away try puting in a slice of raw potato. It is not supposed to be good as a steady diet but is good occasionally. They last for several days and if not eaten don't seem too hard on the water quality.

Thanks Charlie, I usually just don't feel them at all if it's for a few days.

Have you had any luck breeding your 134's or 204's yet? anything else new that your working on?

Like any Bar. Sp. they take a bit of time to get acclimated but once they are they are pretty tough buggers. The large one was the only Bar. sp. that I lost :( And I had 3 LDA33's and a gold nugget in there also.

Hopefully someday I can get a species tank for just L47's but that wont be until I get a bigger house, no more room here ::(
