There are 7 adult and 9 jeuvenile L046 for sale on Aquabid right now for anyons that is in the market. Bid is sitting at US$400.00
Owner will ship internationally. And is resident in Oregon near Eugene.
Based on the crazy prices listed earlier, don't expect this $400.00 bid to last. It will probably peak out over $5000.00. Madness!

Yeah... however when you can't find plecos in your own country you end up looking elsewhere and paying their prices.

I'd be happy take it for $2000. Provided that it's really 7 adults and 9 juvies. Actually, I'd be laughing.
I think this one can easily hit $3000.
After all, the going price internationally is $200 per zebra. Adult can hit $300 and proven female adult can hit $400.
7+9 = 16 X 200 = $3200.
If I wasn't on a money crunch right now, my name will be on that list of bidders.

Yeah ... If I won the lottery I may be on the bidders list. ;)
I think it's INSANE! I know the fish are hard to come by and not too easy to breed. And they are very beautiful plecos but $400 a fish. I could buy a whole new large tank setup for the price of a couple fish!!
I can't figure out why you don't hear of too many people breeding them in Canada. I know the price would still be high but shipping would be much less. Too bad we couldn't all get a few and start breeding them ... then the price would go down a bit .... then more people could keep these fish ... and then there would be more fish for everybody.
I guess I'll just have to wait until I meet someone that's breeding these beauties and hopefully get some kind of discount!!

Auction closed with:
$1753.01 (reserve price not met)
I'll bet you the resever price was $3000. But it's hard to bid on this though. He only have 1 transaction history and that was for some blue rams.
Dyesub Dave,
The cost is justifiable. It takes 1 year to get it to 1.5". The maintainance cost is pretty high for these fish as they need meating food and too much pellets isn't a good thing for them. They need fresh meat like frozen blood worm or brime shrimps.
Also, not a lot of people know how to breed exotic plecos. Only in the recent 2 years that people started to share their informations.
You should read Bwiskers' pleco breeding article. I consider myself a very good pleco breeder and I find that there was nothing for me to add to that article. He did an amazing job sharing his experience.

They sure do grow slowly and need variety!!! i think i spend $50 everytime i head to bigals on frozen foods for em. I am growing out 18 to try to breed a few yrs down the road. Even then, if i can breed them i wouldnt imagine myself or anyone around here would sell for less then $100 each for babies 1" long.

Still the price they went for is a heck of a lot better than what the German and Taiwaneese guys are advertising for right now... pile of them up there today. Sometimes the way it looks as if they are the only two breeding and selling them... lol
by the way since when was the going price that low (200.00)... I see jeuveniles advertised for 400.00 and more!
