I have never had a problem with Barbatus fry. You could be keeping them too warm. Barbatus can not take temperatures over 75 degrees F for very long. Some times people try and feed them before their yolk sac is absorbed and they die from contaminated water. Keep the fry out of bright sunlight or flourescent light as many fish fry are sensitive to ultra violet. Micro worms are the best food for at least the first couple of days for most catfish fry.

Thanks Charlie i will try that. i may have too much uneaten foods left floating in the water. as per water changes should i stick to pure RO water or should i mix with tap water? and frequency of water changes is 50% per every 2 days - is that a good amount?

My Barbatus have always been kept and spawned in straight tap water. A 50% change every couple of days should be fine.

thats super good to know, i always thought it was pH of the water which mattered for them. thanks again. and will update once they get going.
