i thought i would post some of my fish pics too. A few of these have come and gone over the years like my oscar, turquoise severum, and black ghost knife fish are no longer with me, but i feel a need to include them because i raised them from little 1" fishies and grew them into fine specimens. Like everyone here my fish are my pride and joy,so let me know what you think.

Gorgeous fish, every one of them. How big did you Black Ghost Knife Fish get - it looks huge! They all look great.

Thank you. The bgkf was pushing 17" when she died. Her name was 'Katana', she was one of my favorites.

ah, my geophagus altifrons' rio xingu' pair. They are by far my favorite fish. The male is around 9 " and the female is about 5". Pics do not do them justice, their beauty can only really be seen in person.

im pretty shure quite a few of their fry made it down south over the years. You've probably seen some of their offspring floating around somewhere.

I know that my fry are from yours, they are not fry any longer tho, some are now 5-6" easily. Nearly impossible to capture their true colours, such beautify fish.

arent they the most beautiful fish? it is impossible to capture their colour on camera. Altifrons have always been my favorite species, and its nice to see my fry in such good hands. i was always afraid to sell them, afraid that they would go to people that wouldnt appreciate their true beauty.

i've been shopping around, trying to figure out my next foray into geos, my red humps have spawned, I was going to grow them out and then move onto another variety

I'm thinking these altifrons might be the ones. gorgeous fish

what size do they max out at? males 9inch, females smaller than that?

I believe the altifrons can actually get quite a bit larger then that, but it seems like they get stunted pretty easily. Jkhuu has several as well and they are spawning at I would guess 7-9". I have seen a group of Altifrons "Tocantins" spawning none stop at 5-8" as well. They were also quite old fish.

interesting

I think 75 gallons would be too small for most geos

I stick with my red humps until I get a bigger tank going

the males could get 10-12", females a little smaller, but you rarely see big males past 10 inches. My pair is in a 75 gallon at the moment, and it is a little cramped. Hoping to get them back into another 125g when i move.
