The ordinary Bushynose plecos, goldspot, albino and long fin raised in the aquarium trade are all the same species and spawn readily at 72 to 74 degrees F provided they have a suitable cave to spawn in.
The other types or species nearly always require water in the mid eighty's.
Some such as the L-201 Inspector will spawn in straight Great Lakes tap water.
Most of the others require the water to be softened. The procedure is as follows. The fish are kept at 84 to 86 degrees and must be mature. They are fed well and brought into spawning condition. Water changes are then stopped for a couple of weeks or brought to a bare mimimum. That is followed by water changes every other day with cool R.O. water for a week. This along with a power head naer the surface should help induce spawning. This is the procedure followed by most of the successful breeders. So far it has worked with my L-66 King Tiger Plecos. For some species a slate cave is a must others bamboo closed at one end. Our rainy season in fall and spring also helps trigger spawnings.

Do you think this would this go for the L184's (White Seam BN) as well?

My sp3 BN all spawn at higher temps than that. I keep mine in with grow out angels, rams etc tanks and don't often have to lower the temp below 78 to get a spawn. It may just be mine are used to it and when I do a cooler w/c or forget to plug the hearter back in they often spawn.

The White Seam Pleco is L-183. The Brilliant Bushynose Pleco is L-184 and does not have the white edging on the dorsal and tail but has nicer white spots. This whole group from L-180 to L-184 all have similar looks and size making them confusing. I have had a successful spawning from the L-182 at 78 degrees. Three unsuccessful spawnings with the L-183 White seam at 74 degrees. I was told at the Catfish Convention to try 82 degrees.
