Does anyone have shrimp in with their plecos? I'm thinking of adding some to my pleco tank as a clean-up crew but don't want them to be buffet. Will this work or will the shrimp turn into snack food?

don't think the plecos will make a snack of your shrimp.... but there are many other species that will do so. What other type of fish are you planning or currently have?

What type of pleco? What type of shrimp??

Need to info to give a good answer. I would be hesitant to put them in with any carnivorous pleco. Even a large amano would become food for sure.

Its a pleco only tank with 2-L264 Sultans, 1-L200, 1-L128, 1-L129, 1-L239, 1-L102 and 1-L204. Most are omnivores. I've never had shrimp so I'm at a loss as varieties which might work, maybe wood shrimp?

As long as there are hiding places, most shrimps should do OK. I've keep carnivorous plecos with cherry shrimps and have no problem. A few unlucky ones will get eaten but most should do fine. Your problem might be the high currents. Most shrimps don't like it. But seeing that you are interested in wood shrimps. It should be find.

Thanks for the info. Never thought about current being an issue. Maybe I'll try a few in the other tanks to see how it goes. Any recommends as to shrimp types to try?

I bet they wouldnt last long with that lineup! My 204's will eat anything moving or still. I have even watches L81's eat shrimp too.

Lost the L129 and L239 today to ick. Maybe the shrimp will stand a better chance. Naw, I'll replace the plecs with same. I liked them to much.
