Thanks rush2112 and Bwhiskered for the great information you both have given me on breeding suggestions.
After shutting off my heater with temp dropping to 73F for one week, I had a successful spawn. It was actually my first try.
2 males, 1 female I had in a planted 20g, sand bottom, large driftwood, and 2 clay saucers siliconed together with a notch taken off to create an opening for a cave.
Now, they did not breed in the clay cave. They created their own under the driftwood.
It's hard to count these little buggers, but my last count was at 50+ and possibly many more.
Question: Is this a normal amount that one would expect from a single spawn.
Thanks once again,
...Ralph

thats awesome congratulations! i hope i will have an abn spawn soon too. i think that is a good/normal number from what i have read in preparation for a pair i recently got.
Congratulations on the spawn, 50 plus is totally normal, when mine spawned I usually had around 100. Be prepared for lots more in the near future, and good luck with them.
Good show! Congrats on the spawn.

Thanks everyone.
I'm well aware that these plecos are one of the easiest plecos to breed, but as a new keeper of plecos it's always good to start at the bottom.
My next challenge will be the L183 White Seam. They have always been my personal preference but trying to even acquire some is near to impossible. I will keep my eyes open if any seem to pop-up somewhere.

From some of the earlier postings, I believe that Big Al's in Scarborough sometimes get them in. You may want to contact Bwhiskered and ask if he has any available or can point you in the right direction.

I was at Al's Scarboro on the weekend and they had a "new arrival not for sale" batch of small white seams that looked in decent shape compared to what we often see shipped into the chains muttering about Whitby inserted here.. :P
Just a heads up since you mention you are looking.

Thanks for the tip klc and Zoban,
I went to Big Al's Scarb. this evening and picked up all they had left which was 7 White Seam. 2 looked somewhat on the pale side but the rest looked fine. I'll give them time to settle in for now and keep you posted with a possible pic or two.
Thanks again,
...Ralph
