I have been cleaning a second-hand 77g tank and read to use vinegar to get rid of the marks on the glass. The marks ended up being on the outside only and the vinegar did nothing for them anyway. There was a styrofoam/concrete rock background on the inside of the back wall which I removed. I also resealed the back two 90 degree corners with GE Silicone last week.

What do I use to get rid of any possible trace of the vinegar from the back wall of the tank?

Just make sure your GE Silicone is for "door and window" (no Midew resistance). I normally clean the tank using newspaper. Don't forget to post some picture when the tank is up and running. What tank mate are you going to put in there ?
