Checked one of my little ponds late this afternoon and saw 2 daphnia swimming around. I should go out and sprinkle it with brewers yeast tomorrow to help them along. Had great success last year and the mosquito larva that come later are a bounus. I've had a frog up on warm days for over a week now. Started the filters on the koi and goldfish ponds today. Hope the UV's clear them up soon. Went to look for trout in Grindstone Creek that runs through Burlington but nothing running yet inspite of the rain.

Charlie how does one get a Daphnia Culture started? What do you use to seed it ( so to speak)

The best way is to find some in a pond and put it in a tub with green water. Some places on the web sell starting cultures. Some people have had success by seeding it with sun dried daphnia bought from a store. The winter eggs stored in their bodies often hatch in water.
