Cories are one of my favourites. I currently have one bronze left from my very first group of six from years ago. One little dwarf not sure what kind. After vacation, I will be looking for buddies for these guys.

Most cories go good with plecos. I find pleco fry do better if you add a few baby cories to their tank. The cories scurry about and make the pleco fry more active. They also eat the suplus baby brine shrimp that goes to waste and rots causing the nitrate spikes that are the reason so many pleco fry die when moved to their own tank from a fry saver. I lost 2 or 3 of the 174 fry until I added a few cory fry. I should have known better and added some right at the start.

Lol, my trick was to add 1 or 2 cherry shrimps too.

I like to have different groups, currently paleatus, bronze, skunk, sodalis, agassizi, napoensis and pygmies. One of these days, I'm going to start breeding them though my paleatus have bred themselves.

I had various cories until I got into cichlids and then the cichlids seem to kill them and I was worried about choking hazard. After I got into planted tanks, I found they seem to leave spotted cories alone, so now I have a group of 4 Juliis and 28 C. agassizi.
Oops, almost forgot I do have 4 C. sterbai in my 15 gallon breeder. I really like these guys and will probably get more in the future.

Hi Steve, I didn't know you had albino Sterbai. Are you breeding them? If so, do you have any for sale? I was looking for some for my cube.

Do you guys keep them in separate tanks? I tried to keep my CW28's with some pandas and it did not go well for the pandas.
I only have the CW28's lol really small collection

I think it's better to keep them in separate tanks, but due to lack of space/not enough tanks!!!, I have got my sterbai in the same tank as my metea and the lazers are in with the C. Paleatus they all seem to be happy and swim about together some of the time.
I may be wrong about the Panda corys, but I think they are one of the weakest species, I had some myself many years ago and they all died within a few weeks of getting them :( .

If conditions are right all it takes is a water change to get may corys to spawn.

My Axelrodis just spawned a week after a water change but we had a good low pressure system in here last night and today. Charlie are any cories known to be agressive during spawning ? Just curiosity

There are a few larger cories where the males are agressive toward one another. I have never heard of any that are agressive toward other fish species.

Currently I have:
3 C. aeneus males [albino]
1 Brochis Splendens (aka Emerald Cory) - female
10+ Mixed breed offspring (unsexed)
I know there are a lot of people who are really against mixed breed cories. In all honesty it was a bit of an accident. One day I was cleaning gravel and a baby fish darted out! I think my cories ate most of the eggs because I didn't even know they laid them. >< At that time my emerald lady was quite young and could not yet be sexed. Sure learned that I had a girl in the tank real fast that way, though! And before anyone trolls/hates on me just know that I do pay more attention to make sure that the eggs are now removed and disposed of in an ethical manner. But I am not going to kill the babies that have already hatched - that and I love them, they will never be sold/traded. I think that is the most important thing that fish keepers care for their pets and give any animal they keep a safe, forever, home.
My oldest cory cat is going on 10+ years of age. I call him Gramps. He sleeps most of the time xD

I have a school of C. Aeneus. The female is the normal color, the 3 males are albino, and their offspring are somewhere in between ^.^ It has been my first time raising baby fish from eggs, to wigglers, now I have about 10 juvies. They are all very social fish and fun to watch. My oldest albino cory is going on 10 years and I have affectionately nicknamed him "Gramps". It is amusing how all the juvies and other fish swim by him and he usually doesn't care... sometimes he will swim off from the group so he can get his nap in peace. And this is unrelated, but for a long time our family kept a goldfish that lived over 10+ years with this cory, and grew to be about 6" long. After she died, I felt bad for Gramps being all by himself so I got the female C.aeneus and 2 more albino males (all unsexed at the time).
Funny thing is, I didn't even know they had bred until I was trying to do a gravel change and saw a couple wigglers swim out! All in all it has been a fun experience in fishkeeping :)
Oh, on a side note, I have never witnessed any form of aggression in my male cories, although they do have amusing social and schooling behaviors. But I'm not claiming to be the expert on this... in my experiences the female will pretty much pick who she wants to do the deed with and that's the way it is xD I have noticed that the males that are more active in swimming after her tend to get more of her attention - perhaps this has something to do with how they choose mates; not really sure though. My female always seems to get frisky with the same male, not sure what that's about.
