Got a couple of neat fish...at somewhat a neat price from Aquatic Kingdom yesterday. They are 4.5 -5"ish. Got some inputs and wanted to also see if anyone else wants to give it a shot at IDing.

For comparison, I went to BA to check out the ones they had that didn't have spots and somewhat darker in colour. I also noticed that the tip of their scales were a bit different. Wished they didn't price it that high or I would have picked up one for side-by-side comparison : )

So, L95 or L152 ??

To the best of my knowledge, L-152 don't have red on their face or spots in their body. It's probable that they are L-95, but not very nice looking ones if that's what they are.

I called the manager at big als about them not being "pelligrini" or L095 and actually being pineapple(L152) and he didnt confirm or deny it.

the ones at big als were way too dark IMO, no spots, no cheek colouring. to confirm richs point i've never seen pelligrini this small for sale either, so maybe they're still maturing. i still kick myself to this day for passing on a 9inch specimen they had for sale at big als about 4 years ago. gorgeous fish

your guy looks like the pick of the litter jkhuu, nice pick up

When i look at the ones from BA, they were also somewhat flatter and the snout length is shorter.
Lets see if these guys end up being poor examples of L95s Dale and don't/haven't developed any colouring (like some smaller scarlets, etc) Although i do see a hint of red on the snout and head area as well as the pectoral fins.

Jimmy C...just like me when I saw a scarlet at BA couple of years ago. My thinking back then was what so special about the red on the fins, etc : ) You're right though. The L95s are beautiful. I would definitely be jumping at a chance to add a few more larger ones for sure.
