My friend got this problem. It wiped out almost an entire tank. To me it looked like an Ich, but 1) it does not respond to Cupramine + high temp. treatment; 2) sides of the tank covered with the same thing.
Any opinions?

I dont think its ich, due to the sticking to the glass part alone. It is uncharacteristic of ich to stick to glass to the degree where they become visible to the naked eye.

I am leaning towards velvet. Which in case it is, tell him to turn off the lights right away (velvet is a type of algae to my knowledge). And if its not....hey, lights off wont hurt.

I did tell him to turn lights off just to reduce the stress, and he did. Anything else he should do in case of Velvet? Hey, there are couple fish left, we might save them.

I have read that Metro can be used with success. Here: www.zebrapleco.com :: View topic - ICH!!! (http://www.zebrapleco.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1364)

It looks to be a form of fungus. I have had this problem recently mainly with tetras and swords. The thing that treats it best is Jungle Binox. However the Jungle Binox will kill plants so the plants should be removed or the fish to another tank for treatment. I have had it clear up and then come back when treating a planted tank with Quick Cure or Aquarisol. These medications have caused no stress or problens for the pair of 183 plecos in that tank.
