Alright I talked to Blue a number of times at exoticfinds, great guy!

After about a month or maybe more (I had to special order in a couple fish, ya I'm a pain in the butt). Well he did order them for me tho, and he quarantined them for 3 weeks to boot! I placed a rather large order for the following:

2 x L47 (9" female and 11" male)
6 x L399
4 x L262

They were shipped in 2 seperate boxes, the big mangos in a 18"x18" and the rest in a 12"x12". Since he is shipping form the US I opted to have him ship directly to the main DHL depot in Buffalo NY, a short 15km jog into the states.

I picked them up today, no hassles at the border, either way, didn't even get told to go inside or anything coming back into Canada, which is a first for me coming back into the country with fish! Actually he didnt even ask to see my passport, border guy said "Well I dont know of any duties or taxes on aquarium fish, have a nice day." and off I went.

Got the fish home, the large Mangos caused hell on the bag, namely the big male, he put holes through all 3 bags plus the extra thick bag around the inside 3 bags. I thought he was DOA when I got him home, so instantly added some fresh water (he was almost out) and pow up and fighting he was. He's now peacefully resting in a 90gallon tank with his new girlfriend.

The L399's and L262's were all in great shape. It actually looks like a couple of the L399 or L400's who really knows the difference if there even is a difference are carying some eggs! Hopefully they are and hopefully my water is good for em, the R/O unit hasnt come yet sooo, we shall see.

Anyhow, I shot Blue an email as soon as I got home asking him a quick question of what he was feeding the Mangos and told him the bag story. He called me withen 30 minutes to make sure everything was alright and if I liked the fish and was happy with the order.

I am VERY pleased with Exoticfinds, and would recommend ordering from them without hesitation. It is a pain in the butt for him to ship to Canada and also min. order of 1k (mainly cause its a pain for him to ship to Canada) so if you are close to the border have them shipped to a DHL main depot.

Anyhow thanks for the great service Blue!

i'm soooooo happy that the L47's made it, hopefully you'll be breeding them down the road. large mangos are some spiny buggers for sure, mine did the same thing in the bag when I bought it at the LFS, watching the kid bagging him getting covered in water was funny :D

i contacted Blue a while back about getting breeding size L128's and he had them, I just didnt have the 1k to spend at the time.

looking forward to some pics as soon as they get settled. :)

Big L128s would be real nice too!!! Ya the big 47's sure are spiny!!!! I have no idea how I am ever going to move them to a bigger tank. Checkout the L399/400 thread i posted a couple pics in there down lower of the big male.

I also ordered some Plecos from Exotic Finds, and have nothing but good things to say. Mine were shipped with DHL, I went and picked them up at the DHL office myself, instead of having them delivered to the house.
The Plecos were well packed, and survived the trip from New Jersey just fine. Blue and Farrah are very nice people and really care about their customers, and their fish. I would highly recommend them.

This is great. I have been wanting to order from them for a long time but have had second thoughts because I did not know what they where all about.

If you order from them and get it shipped to the main DHL at the border is there still a min of 1k? And how could I find out if there is taxes and duties on the fish if you are bringing them your self?
Thanks

Yeah, I've wanted to order from them myself, they need to expand into Canada soon! LOL

The only thing is the 1k minimum order. It's actually very easy for me to find the plecs I want on their website, but it's another to have the money to pay it. I've also wondered what kind of hassle it would be to bring them over the border. I'd hate to be stopped, searched and have the fish confiscated for some dumb reason. Oops, there goes 1K! :o

I am scared of that as well.

You dont need to order 1k of fish if youhave them shipped to the DHL depot in Buffalo. Bringing aquarium fish into Canada is no issue either. No taxes on them or anything. Never had a problem and I have brought fish over many times before. The only thing they might ask you about is if they are on the CITIES list, and no pleco is.

So got order up some plecs and go for a drive :) I am thinking of ordering up some more L47's myself!!!

So basically I would have to tell Blue that I want them shipped and held at the nearest DHL depot in the States, I'm guessing you know when they arrive by the tracking you receive from him? And no 1k min if he ships within the USA? That would help a lot!

Sounds good I might give it a go.
