Hey guys,

I have a 37 gallon that is empty waiting for some pleco's to go into it and I want to try my hand a breeding some fancy pleco's, any suggestions of what L# to try my hand at, I have a $400 budget or so, so I can get some more expensive pleco's. Let me know what you guys think or suggest.

What have you kept in the past in terms of plecos??

If you have not bred plecos before start out with some cheap ones and easy to breed plecos like the common BN's.

Really it all comes down to what you want to try and breed. That is just my opinion.

I did the whole BN thing and got sick of them really fast I sold all of mine in less than a few months.

Now I am focusing on big plecos.

What is the footprint of that tank?

like Jackson said, if you dont have a lot of experience with plecos, get some BNs to start with and move up from there.

Possible ones you can look into once you feel confident enough are: L134, any Hypan, L181, L182.

When you say the tank is empty and waiting....is it already set up? and cycled?

actually now that I think about it, get some L181 or L182s, they are nice looking fish. Quite hardy as fancy plecos go, and pretty easy to work with.
