Wow.. I just realized I have gone a little nutty with these eheims. Just counted them up heres what i've got:

all are the Pro models

2 x 2222
1 x 2224
1 x 2227 (wetdry)
1 x 2229 (wetdry)
1 x 2028 Pro II
1 x 2078 Pro IIIe (still need to set this bad boy up)

Also running 4 x emp400's, and I have got to say the newer ones SUCK. They will be replaced soon by something else. Maybe more eheims hehehe

Now here's what I am running them on :)

1.) Zebra tank (40g breeder) has about 20 zebras
2222 and 2227

2.) 5 x unknown Hyp. Sp. (40g breeder)
2222 + sponge filter

3.) 5 x LDA33 (20 gallon)
2224 + sponge filter

4.) 3 x GN (125 Gallon)
2229 and 2078 + emp 400 + 2 sponge filters

5.) 6 x L204, 5 x L260, 2 x L262
2028 + 2 emp 400's + 2 sponge filters + 1200ghp pump

I'll get some pics of the insanity, some of these things are big filters! But I LOVE EM!

on the 120 I have the Rena XP2 and XP4 and on my 75g I have the Rena XP3. Thinking of adding another filter to the 75 as the bioload is fairly heavy. Thinking of adding a big sponge filter to each tank

I love my sponges... so cheap too!!!

if you are looking for a big quantity of sponges checkout these guys in alberta if i remember correctly. http://ultimatesponge.com/
I got 16 from them and they are great, especially for the price of $4 :)

How do you like your XP's?

I really like them. So far the only problem I've had is a snapped o-ring just last week, replacements are apparently 15$, haven't gotten one yet just did a makeshift repair till I can get it. They're really quiet and the self priming works great.

Maintenance is pretty simple as well.
The pad that it comes with for the top basket also clogs up fairly easily but they rinse out pretty good for about 3 more uses. I've been using poly fill in the top basket but I think that's what the xp pad was made of and it's clogging up after a relatively short time (2 weeks) so I just placed some pot scrubbers in the basket unerneath the pad to see if that helps.

I've been thinking of adding the fluval fx5 to the 120 and taking the xp2 and hooking it up to the 75 w/ the xp3 but I've read a lot of people having problems with it's output. Also wouldn't mind trying out the new Marineland cannister. I found out a couple weeks ago that it is just a rebranded cannister from the UK made by tetratec. The design has really impressed me though.

Was going to do the D-I-Y sponge filter thing but with the price on that website why bother lol. Thanks for the link.

I tried finding out what size tank they're good for but all it says is he uses them in his 10g and grow outs... Are these in your 125's? If so how many per tank are you using. I'm also setting up a 33g tank this week as a shelldweller tank and thinking of just going sponge for it, think 2 of those sponges would be good for that size?

I have 2 of those sponge filters in each of my 125's. and 1 in every other tank i have, from 20 gallon to 40 gallon. I am just using them as additional bio filters, the only tank they are the only filter in is a BN growout tank

Saw you were having problems with the pro3e on another site and that you eventually got it working, now that it's been up for a couple days how would you rate it?

I havent really had enough time to give it a fair evaluation, I've been out skiing at Mt. Tremblant for the past 3-4 days so havent played with any of the settings. I will over the next week, however it has cleaned up my 90g really well so far!!!

Cool, looking forward to the review. I always prefer reviews from people I talk to on forums as opposed to websites, as you can never really tell if they've been paid off to give a good one. And stuck between the FX5 and Pro3e for my next filter.

Has anyone tried the Marineland canister filters? They certainly feel heavy enough. They look like a rebranded Tetratec filter. I've got a Eheim 2028 on my 90 gal tank but might try a Marineland when I set up the 40 gal breeder. The Tetratecs get good reviews on Plecofanatics and they are a fair bit less than a 2026.

I read an article on another website can't remember which but they did confirm your thoughts of it being a rebranded tetratec. I haven't tried them yet either but pretty much the only guys opionion I trust 100% @ my fish store said he's gotten some good feedback on the marineland cannisters. The price tag is pretty attractive compared to others in the same size.
