View Full Version : Plecos and Discus
Does anyone have any experience with plecos and discus? I've set up a 90 gal tank that was originally to be a discus tank but it was hijacked by plecos. It finally had three discus added today. A bit late but...oh well. Aside from frequent water changes, temperature and a reasonable ph level, does anything else stand out as something to really watch for? Input would be most appreciated.

I've heard that plecs like to suck on the slime coats of discus and similar shaped fish but I haven't have any problems yet, my plecs are in with angels & silver dollars.
I think as long as they're well fed then they should leave the discus alone.
I have some Snowball Plecos and some BN Plecos with my Discus and have never had any problems at all.

Most plecos seem to be ok with discus. I do know that the Gibbiceps types go after discus and have to be removed from their tanks. I have had my Farlowella's try to attach to my discus on the odd occassion but they just shook then off.
The smaller BN plecos are OK with discus. The large ones may cause some problems.
