I got my order of caves from Plecocaves.com on Friday and they look great. I even got some extra ones. I will post some pics of them soon.
I also found a place to get bamboo. It's called Bamboo Bazaar on Davenport just west of Lansdown.

Yes I ordered them from the US. Nobody ever put an order together for the German ones so I got Pleco Caves!! (http://plecocaves.com/) to custom make some for me.
W.H. Kilby and Company Ltd. - Bamboo Bazaar (http://www.bamboobazaar.ca/) is located in Toronto, but they sell bamboo for you to make your own caves. The bamboo they sell is treated for bugs as is all bamboo that is allowed into Canada other than that it is not treated with anything. I am soaking mine to leach out any impurities that may be in it to be on the safe side.

That's a bit ballzy. I don't know if I can trust soaking when it comes to pesticides. LMK how it works out for you :)

Will do
I'll let you know how it works out with some albino b/ns. Got lots of them to spare. The only way you will get bamboo that hasn't had any pesticides sprayed on it(Canadian Importation Laws), is to grow some.

Some garden centers have untreated bamboo. I got some at Holland Park Garden Gallery here in Burlington just last week. I soak it in hot water until it sinks and have never had a problem. Some comes with a green lacquer coating and it is still no good after months of soaking.

Hey Matt,
I too bought some pieces of Bamboo at that place. The elderly lady took me in the back to pick out any pieces I wanted and where they still make all the Bamboo furniture the good old fashion way. I did not wait for mine to sink...as I silicone it to a piece of slate to keep it down.
The only problem I had is that over time...the tiny cracks will open up big time later on and may have to be sealed up. As you all know....lots of plecs do not like light at the end of the tunnel when breeding.
MATT: If you have any more of those caves for sale from Plecocaves.com, I would love to see pictures.
You can e-mail pictures if you can... randt@rogers.com
Thanks,
...Ralph

WOW!
Those are great what did they cost if you dont mind me asking?
Do you have to ask them to make them like that or are the standard caves that they make?

I paid $115 US including shipping and I ordered 18 caves. He actually sent me 24 caves as a bonus.
I had to ask him to custom make them like that. I think it took 2 weeks for him to make them and about 3 days for shipping.

I wasn't actually selling the caves I just wanted to let everyone see his work.
I went upstairs at the bamboo store and picked out a 10 foot lenth that didn't have any cracks in it.

I was considering ordering some caves from plecocaves.com, but the shipping was $30! So it wasn't worth it for me unless I was to do a group buy for multiples. I only wanted 6 or 8. :(
Nice looking caves though.

Here are the 20 caves I bought from Pleco Caves when I was at the OCA last month. They cost a total of $60 US and no customs or duty crossing the border.

They are nice caves I always pick up a few when at the OCA convention. Pleco Caves is at the Catfish Convention in Maryland. The fourth convention is coming up October 2010 people come from all over North America. The best convention there is. Save your pennies and make your plans.
